The Atlètic Terrassa HC was founded on August 1, 1952 by a group of seven young people from the Catholic Social Center of Tarrasa. The club was born after the dissolution of Educación y Descanso (Education and Rest). In this way they will be able to create the first two teams that participated in the First and Second Category Catalan Championships. The first president was Oriol Freixa i Vancells.

The first triumph came in 1954, winning the Pere Amat international trophy. But the economic situation of the entity was not good. In the 1957-58 season the premises of Vall Street were closed and moved to a space provided by the Catholic Social Center. In 1960 he gets a new headquarters in Calle Vall. The 1960-61 season, the Atlètic won the first official titles, the Catalan Championship for children and youth and in 1965-66, with the Indian coach Vinicio Carvalho, the Youth Spanish Championship.

In 1964 the club inaugurated its first territory in the Torrent d'en Pere Parres. Two years later an athletics section was created and later tennis and the pelota court. The club decides to acquire a new sports area for all sections. Thus, in 1969, the new headquarters in Can Salas was inaugurated. The female hockey section appears in the year 1970. A time of expansion of the club begins.

In the year 1972 in Munich, Jaume Arbós becomes the first Olympian of the club. Already in the eighties, come the senior titles, the first Championship of Catalonia (1980-81), the first League (1983), but above all, the European Cups (1985 in Frankentaal (Germany) and 1998 in Tarrasa) and the Cups of Europe (1994, 2000) or the European Cup of Indoor Hockey (1999).
